Wish that there were still named cars out there. Or at least the one's that aren't afraid to put the name on the side of the car.

Charlie Sr. is still around, he will be 90 in May. Charlie Jr. lives in Olney, MD and has not been involved in racing for at least 25 years. When I saw this photo of Charlie's Camaro, and the Olds, I thought of the trip to Bowling Green around 1973. The Olds had a 455 and TH400 trans, which lost high gear only 30 miles from home. Being the die-hard racers that they were, they drove from MD to KY and back with only 1st & 2nd gear. Good thing gas was cheap! Tom, Just found this one a couple days ago from the 1985 Super Stock Nationals. ![]() |
