Now a days I would build anywhere from a 565 to a 598, once you go over 600 comes with more maintenence. A good upper 500 inch motor would put 8.90 around 175 - 177mph which is upper side of the class speed. (this is based on a 1820 - 1900lb with driver 4 link car) Does this answer your question?

Ya, like you would know about Super Comp.

Chris knows, he won almost every race he attended, plus his dad is all world in Gas and Street.

I would also like to bracket race this combo too. We run 1/8th mile here. I want to run in the 5.0 range. I see these 4.70 and quicker cars overpowering the track too much.
Is there a combo out there that will be consistent running that slow on the stop??

Thanks
Chip

My 515 BBC (4.0" stroke 4.530" bore) runs 5.0_ in the heat at 136 and on the stop it runs 8.90s at 169 in a HT 1820# car and you can almost paint a dial on it.

If I was going to start over I would build a 540 and you will be able to bore it at least three times maybe four if it will go 4.625. I like to get as mutch out of a block as I can so the 565 option is out of my budget from the begining.
