Default I have a thought.........

How much does "look good" enter into your "go fast" quest?
Thought it was worth some discussion........ I think I am too into "looking good", and it may take away from my "going fast".... Please help....

Tom, it could help in the looks dept. You gotta tone up doing 20-30
sprints to the "National Dragster Reading Room". And spending
that much time in there gotta be worth a 10 LB. weight loss.

I believe there is something to what you are saying.

One has to be careful not to get caught up in the old "it doesn't matter if you win or lose as long as you look good doin' it" syndrome.

There has to be some kind of realistic balance. Might explain my limited success...lol.

Are we talking cars here? Nothing finer than a good looking car. Sadly, back in my heyday, 70's-early 80's. I had my share of ugly primer cars. Just never had the "CAR SHOW MENTALITY". Paint and polish don't make'em go faster.

My current project has a few rough edges. I can live with them.

I never saw "show points" win a drag race.

I like for my car to look good, when it's clean it does'nt look too bad it needs new paint but that won't make any difference in winning or losing.

My first stocker I built was 80 malibu in 88 first took it was 4 or 5 different colors, got all the bugs worked out, decided to paint it,ended up stripping to bare metal while still racing it, last night I raced it before painting,it had what I thought was a little surface rust on the bare metal, till a kid about 10-12 years old asked me if my car had been burnt.
I decided after that I should finish it and not race it in that shape any more.
