THANK YOU - I have a 65 Satellite 426-S - 4 sp - 3:91 posi - AM/FM with reverberator (remember those) - dark blue poly with blue interior.
Bought it in 1988 (I was 18) and was going to use it as a drag car until I found out what it was - Had the buildsheet decoded and it is now all apart for a complete resto back to original I always wondered how many were made. |

In 1970,
One of my father's employees at his Gas Station / Service Center had a 65' Satellite (Dark Blue Poly) 426-S w/Automatic, with factory installed 4.10 gears. He bought the car for $300 with about 50,000 miles on it. It was a very quick car. Raced it in 1970.....completely stock,,,,,,,13.85's @ 101 MPH Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 04-14-2012 at 09:50 PM. |

Tommy D,
Mopar did not produce a 65' Race Hemi in a convertible. The 426-S (Street Wedge) was available in the Satellite (convertible) or the Belvedere II (convertible). Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 04-14-2012 at 11:36 PM. |

I do remember they were a bit heavier than the 64' Belvedere and Coronet Models.
Both the 1965 Plymouth Satellite and Dodge Coronet 500 with the 426/365 HP 'Street Wedge' were around #3570 lbs. {Shipping Weight}. They came in with a Weight Factor of 9.79 Wt/Hp. 1965 Plymouth Satellite
426-S 'Hardtop Coupe' 426/365 HP Automatic, w/3.55 Sure-Grip Posi Gear Car Craft Magazine,,,,,,,,,,,Performance Test in December 1964 15.29 @ 89 MPH 'We are disappointed with the 1/4 Mile performance of this car. It was sluggish off the line, and the Torque-Flite automatic transmission did not respond well to manual-shifting of the floor shifter control.' 'Though the cubic inches are there, the engine did not respond well performance-wise. We were expecting a car with a hard-kick powerful engine, but what we have is nothing more than a bored out 383.'
