Smile Super Stock quota at Charlotte

Super Stock class eliminations are being held at Charlotte next month; the entry deadline is Monday April 9, and Super Stock is already at 60% of quota. What logic did the NHRA use when they established the Super Stock quota at 55 entries? The Stock quota is 70 entries and Stock does not have class eliminations. It seems to me that both quotas should be higher; but, at the very least, they should be reversed (Super Stock should be 70 - Stock should be 55). It appears that if the NHRA doesn't raise the quota, quite a few Super Stock racers won't be able to get in.

I remember years ago when it was a 64 car field and you just about had to win class to get into the race, many times I went to the Gators and lost class and had to pack up and go home then the field expanded to 124 or 128 cars. I dont understand why NHRA has gotten away from the larger fields, maybe it is because of all the 90 cars and the not having enough pit area. I quit going to NHRA National Events when the cost went to $305.00. I did go to IHRA National Events before they were moved so far away. But getting back to the small quota at Charlotte it seems to me that NHRA would be happy if all the Stock & Super Stock would stay home.

It's looking like small fields for a lot of races.
Englishtown has a 90 car SS quota since they have class elims., but Stock ,SC ,SG and S/ST are all 64 car quotas!

Smaller fields mean more grade points needed to go. Which in turn means more people going to division races.

I'm going to be one unhappy girl if I do not get in and as of now it is not looking good. I assume they (NHRA) has all the money they need being they would have gotten $600 from Mike and I at Gainesville and would get $600 from us if we can get into Charlotte. My fault for not going to more points races last yr but in years past 1 or 2 would do the trick.

On second thought...maybe I will just go shopping with the $$$$$ NHRA is saving us!!

In the face of compelling logic NHRA will probably boost the SS quota, remember; they did at Gainesville.

(I know my wording will give some a laugh but sometimes they actually seem to care!)

I spoke of this quota thing about two weeks ago on here. It just still is happening, and it will probably continue. It appears that NHRA is not concerned about the sportsman side of things when it comes to Stock and Super Stock. The Super categories appear to be OK, but with the introduction of Top Sportsman & Top Dragster it seems that things are a changing.

Now it is at 70, just like Gainesville. What is going through their heads when they set this quota at the original 55. Is this an experiment of some sort? It would be nice if there were a logical explanation. Does anyone out there no what the logic behind this is? Even the grade point system is a failure if the quota is at 55.
