Got a question for the duece owners. on the front leaf hanger the outer washer that centers your bolt that goes through the spring. i guess what I want to ask is can I make that of something stronger,do they offer a beefier part? I have never owned a leaf spring car before dont know which direction to go here.
last couple runs i made yesterday felt like something was moving under the rear of the car . after inspections this am I found that bolt had split the washer allowing the spring to walk around in the hanger, |

Sounds like you need to change the spring cup, the washer did not serve to center anything.

It may be the spring cup as you say. Looks like a freeze plug with 7/16 hole in it. it is about 2 1/2 inches round. Sure looks like it does the centering. I did use the term washer because i have no clue what it is actually called. Is there a replacement part?

X2 on what Paul said, for the big hole I cut a filler piece the same thickness as the bracket welded it in and cut a thicker cover plate and welded that in. On the other side with the recess in it I put a filler piece in and than put a similar cover plate over that. As a note the car was on a rotisserie at this point and I welded the crap out of all the seams in this area, the car has not been run this way yet but it looks bomb proof. This car was bracket raced since before dirt and never had the issue described, the modification is just eliminating weak links is all. hope this helps.

Here's a pic of the front spring pocket bolt assembly... the end of the bolt (threaded side) can only be tightened so far before it bottoms. Tighten that pig down and tack it in!
