Ok, with the way things are going, it will be awhile before the truck stocker is done. My girlfriend just bought a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis, and that sucker runs pretty good. Her 12 year old son suggested I look into buying one for myself and running it with the Southern Stock SuperStock Asc. as a pure stocker ( I knew I liked him for a reason. lol.) As a 94, both 190/210 classified as 210 in NHRA guide, 190 being single pipe, 210 being dual pipe so both 210 since everybody would hange to duals. Using these #s, 17.29 class weight break. Looking in IHRA. pure stock only goes to 16-16.99 for I/PS. Index is 14.55/9.45. 210 h.p/17.29 car must weigh 3631. I would guess a fresh motor, c4 with a gear venders overdrive and lots a gearing I might get lose to index. gotta keep all the toys on it. I"m just thinking out loud. Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

Just looking at NHRA site, 1995 Mercury is lighter, and better looking. looked on Ebay and Craigslist, not bad in prices. Anybody that runs pure stock, I'd like to hear from you. Just out of curiousity(?), the Mercury Maurader is not in the NHRA book, I wonder why? A few Impalas and Caprices out there, you would think they would want there big car out there racing.

Don't give up on the idea of a PS. It will be awhile before my 89 Mustang (D/CM -S/GT) car will be done so last week I went out and bought a twin to my other Saphire Blue 95 Mustang GT to run in PS. I didn't want to modify my 5 speed car and converting it to an auto, removing the window tint, finding the correct taillights, etc. When I saw this automatic car on craigslist, I knew it would be a better way to get into the Stock/SS combo races. Other than the stereo, the car is 100% original looking. Eventually when the CM/ S/GT car is done, my wife will drive the 95 PS in combo races while I run the 89 Mustang. ![]()
