Re: 1971 AHRA Summernat's video-stick cars
Nice clip and the sound seems to match.....The year before, the first NHRA SummerNationals was held there and I was there racing. Stayed down the road in Gettysburg. I will never forget seeing that area. It really leaves an impression when you see the grave markers!
I always loved York and remember most of those cars in the clip....... P.S it was also an active airport. Racing was stopped when a plane was going to land.....a red light would start flashing and the plane landed in the same direction as the strip. It was very long and the hangers were at the far end right off Rt 30......They also ran 4 wide there and I saw some incredible cars and sights there........

Ya, I hear 4-speeds. WOW was that Don Garlits? Watch the rear wheels on those Mavericks. Was it good for you too?

Admittedly, I'm not an expert on talent, but, that feller bangin' gears in the red Mustang at the 2:20 spot in the video seems to have received his fair share. Pure sweetness. Anybody know who that is?

The Boss 302 @ 2.17 sec in is Arlen Fadely's Factory Boss 302 before his Pinto and Maverick!

You sure about that?
Looks an awful lot like Ernie MacEwen's Pro Stock Mustang from nearby Norristown, PA. |
