305 engines

Hey guys and gals, im alllllll new to this stocker thing. i ran my mustang in super street and bracket raced for yrs. Now im switching over to stock. What i have is a 305 two barrel q/sa im not looking to go -1.000 but maybe like .500 under. Is there anything special i need to do to achieve this? I guess im a dummy when it comes to this stuff.
