Have you checked the Sock in the Sending unit inside the gas tank?
Sometimes in old cars they get all gummed up and the sock breaks down and get sucked inside the tube !

Happened to my 1969 Galaxie XL with 429/360hp way back when.

Actually had a second problem, a cracked hose connecting the Sending Unit to the gas line.

Good point, Dan. I had an old Camaro that I went through that with. I don't remember having the tank out of the car. It's worth a look!

With that being said, with the wacky heads on this car, even though I have a very small exhaust lobe in it, the new headers could be doing something similar. I might be smart to just try the original headers again.

One of my racing buddys just bought a 1979 Pontiac GP out of the local shopper for 500 bucks and through some good scrounging, good dealing and(hopefully) good luck we are going to try and get it under the U/SA index for 1000 bucks or less(or more) not counting the price of the car.

So, it's been 3 years and 8 months since I last had this poor old GP out at the track. That last day, the crank in the $200 short block broke and the car has become another place in my shop to sit stuff on (LOTS of stuff). I'm thinking of resurrecting the parts out of it and sticking them in something a little more presentable.
Is there any interest out there for me reviving this thread?
