I would expect at least as much gain with an SS car. Bigger cams (like for an SS engine) likes (in my experience at least) like more timing in low gear. At least an automatic car.
Works for me. Five hundredths for my car.
And, the gains, for my car, came from adding timing in low gear, not just retarding in high gear.
