Wink Re: It's gonna be a long winter

OH! Billy are you starting another campaign to "rescind" parts that were approved.
Is this going to work like the AMC "Witch Hunt".
You seem to want to be a time traveler and go back to the "Old Days"
OK I'll give you something to work on.
Get rid of AHFS and go back to running off National Records.
You remember class eliminations off National Records.
Is that enough of a blast into the past for you?
Put performance back in S/SS.
I can hear my dear departed friend Alex saying there are too many SS cars in stock with all these new cars.
He would say all the "alphabet" cars need to be in Super Stock or have their own eliminator.
Ok, I'm out of here. that should get things stirred up for you.
Have a nice winter and now that we have voted in change,
I can say: I wish You a Merry Christmas... ;~)

Given the rumors flying around about ProStock, the trend seems to be kill a class and start another one.I don't have a problem with Stock the way it is now. As long as they don't turn it into SS.I finally have my chance to try Stock and I am liking the technical challenge. Not so much the wallet drainage but that comes with any car.To be completely fair , there would have to be every single car in the "Guide" in every single class running out there. I think AHFS is probably the best option.

Ya know, there's a great, ongoing battle going on in Sportsman Racing, mainly affecting Stock and SS Racing too. IMHO, this battle is taking place between, not Liberals and Conservatives, but Car Guys and Racers. Now, I've always considered myself a bit of both but as I get older, I find myself being more of a Car Guy.
Where I'm going with all of this "baloney" is, is it time to start slowing down and backing up the "Liberalization of Stock and SS?
Over the years, We've seen loads of parts and pieces AND specs. approved for use that would never be found on a "Barrett-Jackson" car.
I've been told by a prominent member of this board that I'm not the one to be making these decisions because I have a "GM mind".
So, what's right, what's wrong, what should be allowed and what should be taken away? We've all got our own "pet peeves" and they're mostly the ones that the other guy in your Class is getting to use. What are YOUR personal "pet peeves" and "bogus" combos and why should they or shouldn't they be fixed?

And seeing as I'm the one starting this s**t fest, I'll go first.
283s with 327 intake manifolds.
273s with LD4B intakes.
All of the Police Interceptor FFFords.
Early 70s 351 FFFords with Holley carbs.

Yeah, it could be a long, bloody winter.
How many people are actuaaly running these combos vs cars that have never been real cars run on the street?

Ok sounds like fun.

AFX style hood on the 65 289 comet??
459 intake on 283's

Enforce rules we have. But, consider some changes.

1) All Auto's in SS and S have to shift manually. The stick driver do.
2) Do not allow elec shift in Stock FI cars. None of them are racing the 4-speed autos so you are not granted the elec shift.
3) Mandatory seat pressure (Example) max on all SB Flat tappet lifter, ex 110pds on seat, 125pds an SB HYD rollers. 125 on BB Flat tappet lifters etc.
4) 4 years on the seat belts not 2.
5) Remove the Roll Cage rule so some SS Crate Engine Classes that by there ET don't require a cage. (Michael Beard Rule)

These are just some Idea's

I know nothing will be considered. Does anyone have a breakdown of what is paid for a divisional win or national? W/RU/Semi etc?

I liked running off national records myself, but it got to where we weren't have enough cars show up. Slow guys quit coming, they went bracket racing. So we now have these *extremely* soft indexes a street car could run under. Just bracket racing now, unless you have a heads up.

My favorite. Someone, anyone, name just ONE (1) single drivetrain part that actually came from GM in 1969 that MUST be used on 69 Camaro running a Chevy 396/375 drivetrain (engine, transmission, rear) in NHRA STOCK class for the car to be legal. ANY one item, no matter how big or small that has to be 1969 GM OEM. The same is sure to apply to several other year and BBC displacements (402/427/454). Go ahead, give it a try.

Any current 396/375 Camaro or Nova would make one heckuva fast A/SM car in 1980!
