You can angle mill the carb flange as well as running a wedge spacer.

Maybe try lowering the float a bit. I tend to run the float in the 4gcsin my sticker just a bit lower than Deano has them set.
One thing that the guy from Product Engineering mentioned to me once had to do with fuel regulator mounting position. At the time, he was talking Q Jets, but his concern was a fuel regulator being mounted ahead of the carb. He said the g force of the launch could hit the needle on the launch and blow it off of the seat. Our stocker would leave pretty high in J Stick at 7200 with no issues. Stock manifold with no wedge, just felpro base gaskets.
