B Aceves, you are right, thanks. I forgot about Brian's car. I thought at first that Bo had bought it, but then saw they were both on a sheet late last year... While I would love some help if someone had a motor, I was just half kidding. I have some stock parts sitting on a shelf - heads, intake, stock short block, just do not have the time or money to go thru and do everything right, at this time. With a wife and two young boys, racing funds come down the line some . I have had the car for over 20 years, is an original OHC 4V car, and have the original engine in the garage. Have been slowly working on it for last couple of years to go from street to track, without cutting or messing stuff up. I have a ZZ4 legal motor in it, will go .4-.5 under, and basically just a bracket motor. Stock th350 with a converter. Did put a good Moser rear, with all caltrac setup and 4 wheel disc under it. Will race and work on it as I can. When I build the Pontiac motor, I would really like to do it right. Thanks for asking! Ken |

There are plenty of other good combos; some mentioned, some not yet. If you want to be a player in the 10 and 11 second classes , get ready to spend a bunch of money on the heads, transmission, etc . Same as any other brand...You know the drill.

Mark, thanks for your input. I did have in mind say G/SA or higher but I enjoy your input also. You are right on. I was hoping someone would bring out a combo that I haven't considered and you did.

Rich, the 68 Firebird 400 D port engine is a great combo. You can run well under the index with ( Not Trick ) But good stuff in the engine. The place to spend money right away on it is..... Trans... a 350 or lighter with a 2.75 gearset. 200 is the best choice. A good 8" converter. Fuel system, Not a Holley black pump with 3/8 line. An Aeromotive system, Magnaflow, ect.
A good carb. Start with a good base and work from there. Learn the combo and have fun doing it. Your car is the right car. You have most of the pieces you need. Good Luck....
