Can anybody ex plain why the 12v batteries have up to 1000 cranking amps, and the alledged superior 16v batteries have in the area of 650 cranking amps ? I never claimed to be an electrical engineer, or spelling genius, I'm in need of 2 batteries for my SS Hemi car. I've got a good 12v charger, and also have a 16v charger, i'm just runing low on CASH. Thanks for your opinion's , John Lang

I have a single 16v battery in my SS car. when the 16v battery is dead it's at 13.8v that's 2 volts more than a fully charged 12v.
1. your car will start a lot easier 2. your ignition box will work more efficient 3. 1 battery = less weight 4. look at some of the fastest stock/super stock/comp/pro stock cars have !!!! By the way my battery is turbo start...Good luck with your choice..Luke |

John
Get a copy of the instruction manual from TurboStart about their batteries. It explains why you should have TWO 16v batteries instead of one on cars without an alternator. Does anyone run just one battery and have enought amps to make it through the hot laps? Andy Stone |

Couldn't find that info on TurboStart's web page. Do you have a link?
I just made the change from dual Optima yellows (the biggest) to a single Performance V 16v. Have not tried it yet. I found the Optimas were a major pain to keep charged and maintained at the track. That's the biggest reason I made the change.
