Just interested in why classes like SS/A and SS/B cars can run a sheet metal intake in SS. I only noticed it before on the AH cars but I see there on A and B cars also.

I believe the rule books state any intake manifold can be used in SS.

Where is performance advantage with the SM intakes? Our SS combos (SB Chevies) haven't experiemented with them, but imagine if you have the underhood room to straightened out the runners, that's a start?

There are some other S/S cars with sheet metal manifolds - I have seen some Fords
and I think Randall Klein's 2x4 265 chevy has one as well

I think it's pretty common on the 440-6bbl cars. Any SS car is allowed these intakes. Be wary though, some people spend $3500+ on these and slow down!
