RJ, I had the same problem with my "slug" until I put a Dynotech drive shaft in it, cured the problem.
When I had the rubber filled drive shaft it did not shake, after the "Canadian Transmission" was installed, it took 3 drive shafts until I talked to the guys at Dynotech and bought one of there shafts.

4" diameter would be recommended for that length and speed. You can find a critical speed chart at www.markwilliams.com
