Rather than stick a big ugly GM HEI distributor in the front of your 289, why not just retro fit a mid 70`s thru mid 80`s factory Ford DuraSpark electronic ignition? Theres only a few wires to hook up, and it works fine with either a stock ignition module or a MSD box. If you hide the module/box, it looks stock. Very reliable too. A trip to a Pick a part type wrecking yard should net you a distributor, module and wiring for less than $50.00. You can run it with either the small dist. cap, like the 289, or the later 2 piece wide cap. On a SB Ford the wide cap (and likely the converted GM HEI) often cause air cleaner interference.

You'd have to get a different housing and a different shaft (and gear) to get a GM HEI to plug into your Ford motor. I don't know if anyone makes a conversion kit, but I've never seen, heard, or read of any such thing.

Are you serious? Does it come with a module and coil and everything?
I'll bet you a beer that it has a teal blue cap and is made by ProComp Electronics in China. If that suits you, go ahead, but I much prefer stuff that's made in the USA.
