Default 16” Wheel question

Are 16 “ wheels legal in Super Stock?

I have read the rules and do not see anywhere that they are not allowed but a fellow racer said no they are not! Only thing I read was 14 inch minimum

Technically, they would be legal, based on literal interpretation of the rule. Problem is, there rally aren't any tires that fit the diameter and width requirements, except for the MT 33 10.5w that is offered.

Wink Re: 16” Wheel question

I've been curious about this for a long time.

I believe that for a drag racing tire there would be little or no advantage to a wheel larger than 15 inches. Taller side walls would work better for the launch. I think.

Hard to say about top fuel.

Now why are passenger cars going around on 20+ inch wheels? I remember an engineer stating that for a street driven car there was no advantage to a wheel over 19 inches. The math just did not work out according to him.

Well Ben it’s about what you know or have a history with. With a G Force G5R I have gone 1.05 60” all over the country at 3050 to 3150. Yes I had double the HP but it is being done everyday! Less resistance going down track the 10.5 W is worth a few numbers. Just because no one has tried doesn’t make it wrong. I think people need to go watch some other class’s race and see what they are doing now it will amaze you! In the end if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work but sometime in the future I’m going to try
