not sure where to post ?
1998 V-10 dully, changed front pads 2-3 times 160,000 miles normal with 10,000lbs towing, had to do rear axle seal this weekend. rear drums 13" shoes look fairly new have never changed since new, , are they not working?? what do I check?? I know fronts wear faster then rears gary |

Most OEM dually brakes will last forever. Make sure to go back with OEM. I have 205k and original rears. Feeling guilty so I’m changing them.

Brake fluid attracts moisture. 24 yo wheel cylinders belong in the trash would be a good starting point.

Is this a FFFFord V10 dually or a Dodge V10 dually? I don't know squat about a FFFFord but on the late 90s Dodge duallys with rear drum brakes we used to swap the rear wheel cylinders to chevrolet or gmc duallie wheel cylinders because they had a larger diameter piston than the Dodge wheel cylinders. Braking was vastly improved and it was a bolt in swap.

DODGE dana 80, same year GM?? yep look the same, gm 1.18 dodge 1.06 bore

Didn't most of those have a brake proportioning valve over the rear suspension that compensated for the amount of weight over the axle (due to squat)? Suppose that has failed?
