Larry, you and Billy aren't wrong, this is from 1998 NHRA rule book, that was when I built my 89 Mustang stocker, I made a box with 6 bolts holding the cover on, this isn't in the more recent rule books.

Covered up the package tray with some .032 aluminum, that finished the trunk, other than wiring. put the hood on and drilled for the hood pins. installed the bumper cover, upper and lower grilles. installed the snaps for my "Classic Coverall" from MJ Quinn @ Derby City Covers, and attached it to prevent damage while working under the hood.

Thanks Jerry all of my boxes that I made use six 5/16 bolts for the top. I wonder why NHRA deleted the drawing? The drawing gives everyone a road map for a safe weight box.

Larry, it was in the 2002 rule book, I am missing the 2003, it isn't in the 2004 , so either 2002 or 2003 must have been the last time it was in there.

They decided to just go with what looks reasonable. A dozen 1/4 x 20 bolts would probably work , but too much hassle. ![]()

Race car building tip ; make sure anything you install has clearance around everything ,
back in November I installed my G-Force G101A, at that time I didn't have the dash in, so I grabbed it and this is what happened. Yup, it hit the dash pad ,not even near into 1st gear. So I called Long Shifters and lucky for me ,they had a mount that moved the shifter back 2 inches.

Another shifter update, mounted the driver seat , and the shifter interfered with the driver side seat. took the new shifter mount and had it machined to mount it closer to the transmission, got almost 1 inch more clearance.
