It might be hard to put one of those FS engines in an older car, without a big change to the intake manifold .

New body (08 up) with matching motor FSS/something. New Body old motor FGT/something. New motor old body FGT/something New body/new motor/different years FGT/something. Smaller the motor, the more screwin you get because there is no stick/auto in the FSS and FGT arena and NHRA used the stick factor and in the lower FSS and FGT classes, the difference is as much as .25 and that's a lot. If you goin that way, use the new high horsepower stuff. Using an old motor in a new car probably won't work well. This applies to DP, Copo and CJ bodies/engines. Showroom stuff is SS and GT.

Just an idea I've had rolling around in my narrow mind, for a couple months now, nothing in steel or aluminum , not yet anyway, Stewart.

I would have thought a new body with an old carbed engine would put it in the regular SS/GT classes. I was thinking the engine is what dictated which group it runs in.

It is possible to run regular SS/GT with a 2008 or newer non COPO, Cobrajet, or Drag Pac body that started life as a regular (read as heavier) street legal car and is in the NHRA classguide. At least that was the way it was explained to me by tech. |

BBF, you are correct. Unfortunately only Mopar has applied and got put into the books some of the newer models. It would be great if Chevy and Ford got new showroom in the book. I think NHRA has encouraged them to get them sent in.
