One race said because the tie does not grow.
I think it is more about the structure of the tire.
Think it is about less parasitic drag and does not wiggle like a Bias Ply.

Can you run your bias ply slicks at 24 psi????

Keep your gear ratio in high gear?????

How much heavier are your bias ply tires over a light-weight radial???

These are just a few reasons for running a radial....

If you a racing against a radial tired car heads-up, you are already a tenth behind.
