Today I had a conversation with a man who's father was an early owner of the 'Car of the Rising Sun' Dart. I recall the car racing at Cecil Co around 1971. I believe I have seen pictures of this car possibly racing around the Pittsburgh area later in the '70's? I am not sure of this. But it is my understanding the owner and driver of this car, Robert Good is currently in hospice care and would very much like to see a picture of his old car.

Please post any pictures you may have or information about the car and I will make sure his family is aware of this thread. Thank you very much. Mike
Only pic I can find:

I believe this is it today.

Gotta be some jack stands under there somewhere. Either that or the Landy team could make those cars of their's float.

Looks like possibly a grey or silver jackstand under the elbow, I'm thinkin'.
It seems most of the articles and features back in the day would often show Mike and Dick Landy wearing those white pants,,, and they were never dirty! They must've had a truck full of them, clean and ready to wear.

I read somewhere that it was in their contract with Chrysler because
they wanted to get away from the Rebel Without a Cause bad-boy biker
type of image that early drag racing took on.

Must have been a bitch to try to get anything done in those! I couldn't
walk from the truck to the trailer without having an "incident".

if the green car and that yellow one are the same there is some explaining that has to be done? isn't that yellow car the supposedly uncut and never modified car that Mancini had? maybe i'm wrong?

I said I "BELIEVE" they were the same. Read somewhere that they were.

http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/...0&fpart=1&vc=1

"Transman" on that site is Lou Mancini.

So, there's your explaining. Good enough?

thank you for the link Charlie . there is a lot of stuff out there that the yellow car was never raced and was untouched/unmolested. if it was that green car, one of the articles I remember on that car said it never had a rollbar in it ever, but that green car very clearly does...........also, pretty sure I saw pics of that car recently claiming it was all original too but with a '65? style chrome oval air cleaner on it.
