Just glad these cars still exist no matter the fact or fiction about how they survived.

That isn't a scoop, more of a lump. This photo doesn't show it very clearly. That's Bob Tasca II in the passenger seat by the way. I showed him the photo and he remembered being in the car as a child.

It was always my understanding that the "Paper Tiger" was destroyed in a crash sometime in the late sixties. Last edited by Steve1118; 03-10-2014 at 03:11 PM. |

This car was destroyed in a starting line accident at Quaker City in the early 80's. Whoever owned the car at the time lost it in the burnout box and rear ended the former Hine Motors "Chargin Hemi" '69 Charger, which was then owned by Ben Bertok. It's my understanding that the Charger was repaired and put back on the street. The Belvedere on the other hand was quite fragile at this point and pretty much folded up on impact. Steve, the car ran quite often at old Keystone Raceway, and several times at PID I saw it. It may well have been owned by Koffel, but I know that Deuker had made several modifications to it. He told me that he had built the car.
I was not aware of it's accident at Quaker.....but it doesn't surprise me. The car scared me to death. |

Nobody is wrong here about the Richard Duecker car but history has a way of creating confusion.
A. The car was built by Dave Koffel using leftover parts from Chryslers A/FX program. B. The chassis platform came from a wrecked A-990 from Owensboro Ky.That was wrecked in a towbar towing accident. It was monikered"Outlaw".It was a sedan and converted to a hardtop. C.Koffel sold the car running to two guys from Cleveland Oh.,Ron Latine and Tom Haner. After unsuccessfully trying to race the car it was sold to Duecker from Chippawa Ohio. The car was in pieces. D.Duecker had a few mishaps with the car and did a lot of work on it.He purchased some parts from me at the time. E. I recall the long ago conversation with him and Steve Reasbeck at Keystone about the car and clearly understand Steve recolections. F.I lost track of any further history of the car.Neither Dave or I recall the last wreck. G.This information is as good as we can garner and comes from past recollections of some old feeble minds as mine,Steve, and Dave Koffel.Richard Duecker is still alive and Dave and myself have run into him in past years. He ran at Dragway 42 near his home. H.Jim Kramer is reportedly to have told Dave Koffel that he aquired the T-Bars and K-Member years ago. Enjoy the time travel of younger days and old minds and hope we helped give some worthwhile information.Based on our memories or lack of. Respectfully, Bob Last edited by bob george; 03-13-2014 at 05:55 PM. |
