The viscosity of oil is gonna be big factor in best temp.
About all my knowledge of this is on dyno w/20/50 at that weight between 190-210 is about best for HP below 190 or over 210 usaully see noticable difference. The trick on dyno is you can have those oil temps w/only 160-170 water. I'm sure w/thinner oil you get away with lower temps than 190,if was doing some dyno testing you could find answer easy then. I used to have oil temp gauge in my car, usaully ran real close to water temp160-170 like others have said it's hard to get hot oil and cool water @ same time With 20wt.oil I would guess that 150-170 would be getting close to oil temp for best HP. Dennis, plan on one of diapers soon keeping oil temp in is one thing I had thought it may help, don't really like to talk about thing they are made for,LOL Mike Taylor 3601 |

That said, the only oil I have run in my race engines for the past 23 years and for thousands of passes is Mobil 1 5W-30. Further, my engines typically go ~ 500 passes/2 seasons before being freshened. As to consistency, I'm a firm believer that it starts and ends with the one wearing the brain bucket. What he/she does from the moment they strap on their hemet is far more important to consistency than the type/weight of oil they run. BTW, I also run synthetic trans fluid and gear lube too. BTW 2, I also run a diaper from DIAPERMAN for oil retention rather than oil temperature. Saved my a s s and car already, great product and great customer service.
