Default Stocker info needed

I have a 68 chevelle wagon with a BB in it (not stocker legal) and im thinking about turning the car into a stocker. How do I find out what drive train combo I can run? I tried looking it up on NHRA.com but my head was spinning. Im curious as to what class letter I can run and options, weight, ect. Not looking for saftey of modification fules as those are easy to figure out, just looking for possiable combos. Thanks in advance.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I'm pretty sure the first thing is you need to find out what the factory shipping weight of the car is. Once that is clarified you can find out what the car naturally falls in. I would say a good B/C SA class. Combos can be the sky as the limit.

Just noticed the "wagon" part. I would say its going to fall a little higher than the B/C SA class.

If I were doing a 68 Chevelle wagon, I'd be doing one of 2 excellent 327 combos, 250 horse rated at 245(natural M or N depending on trim) or 275 horse rated at 265(natural K or L).

You probably should take a look at the classified section, there is a 69 wagon for sale for $6200. You probably would have a hard time getting yours converted to stocker trim for that price.

Go to this page, the NHRA Stock Car Classification Guide, then click on 1968 Chevrolet:

That will list all legal combinations for 1968 Chevrolets for Stock Eliminator.

One * is the Stock Eliminator rating; two ** is for Super Stock. 12.88 is the weight break for the car, which would be J/S with a four speed, and J/SA with a Powerglide/automatic.. A car can move up (I) or down (K) one class, with weight changes. Top weight break (12.00 for I, 12.50 for J and 13.00 for K) x the NHRA Rating of the engine (that 250 hp version 327 I listed is NHRA rated at 245 that you see when you scroll to the bottom of that column) + 170 (driver weight; all cars use 170) = minimum eight, with driver, across the scales at the conclusion of the run. So for J, 12.50 x 245 + 170 = 3,232.5 pounds for J/S-J/SA. You figure the weight the same way for I and K, using that Class' weight break.

It's a station wagon he is working with...his factor will be in the 13 - 15 range.

That's a good price if it will run under the index.

Might put a strain on a trailer tho.

OK, its a "nomad custom" I'm coming up with
327 250 HP is 14.47
327 275 HP is 13.49

3787.50 for 250 HP
3709.75 for 275 HP

Does this look correct?
