Dennis, You got HOSED!!!!!! UPS Stands for U People SUCK!
We send EVERYTHING Fed Ex ground and have not had an issue with lost or broken parts since day 1 in 1999. What you can do is goto the local menards or whatever and find the Rubbermaid plastic tub that will fit the unit. Wrap it up in moving blankets and then tape the crap out of it. We have not had issue 1 with shipping blocks or transmissions this way. |

It is important to make sure you pack any item extra carefully, because if you file a claim, UPS, Fedex etc. will review the box and contents and usually will not pay if they determine the packing was inadequate, (that is their favorite escape clause) so buying insurance can be a mute point if there is a chance they can declare poor packing. I believe I was told once that as a rule of thumb, the item should be able to be dropped a minimum of waist high with no damage to container or contents.
