Like Powerade did? It's branding. I don't think people knew much about Powerade back in the day, but its a household name now. Mello Yello has been in racing before, just not drag racing. Taking on Mt. Dew is a big challenge. They'll need more than billboards to grab much of that market share. Maybe drag racing will help them.

The Sports Business Daily article was good.

Anyhoo, hope they make a Diet version. For me, it's typically either Diet Sunkist or Diet Dew., or if I'm getting a fountain drink, mix Diet Coke 50/50 with either Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb (I guess they call it Pibb Xtra these days).

Cheerwine is cool (ask Chip!), but it's regional, an independent company.

Actually, Dr Pepper was the first soft drink ever made and preceded Coke by a year. It was invented by a pharmacist in Waco TX in 1885. Dr Pepper is the third largest selling soft drink in the world.

Guess what my fridge is full of ?

I remember the Mellow Yellow Funny Car of Frank Oglesby. Man I'm getting old.

I think it's great NHRA can maintain that relationship with Coke. Now if they can come out with a Diet Mellow Yellow.

Maybe they can get Donovan Leitch to help promote their product? I'm just mad about Mello Yello.

I liked this coke product. Surge commercials were comical like the one where the surge can tied up the Mt Dew can with the old plastic bundler. The PC would have a conniption fit over that now days.

Mello Yellow instantly makes me think of "Days of Thunder".
"well how did you get them to go for that deal?" "I'm a hellva salesmen"
"I'm dropping the hammer"
"Japanese lettuce inspection"
And the scene from Driving to dinner is priceless.

Jim you are a little off on your history, the first soft drink was developed in England in the 1760's
