thanks guys for the reply. I,m useing 1965 #962 block now, with 4.150 bore. it makes about 560 hp.to the rear wheels. what would the dart block be worth in power ?

Could be worth a little. Depends on how well your current block is blueprinted, how sound it is, and how well the Dart block gets finished. If you're putting all new parts in it, and you have the right sources, you might pick up power there, depending on how old your current stuff is.

560 at the tires? Why would you change anything on that 396, thats amazing!

I CNC machine alot of Dart big -M blocks and this is what useally needs to be addressed.

Some block notes:
I deck all of them to a finished number depending on gasket & desired piston height
Block needs to be honed with a plate or bored & honed depending on bore
Bottoms of bores need to be chamfered
Most need the lifter bores honed, at the least checked
Most need line honing
All pipe threads need to be retapped
Oil return from fuel pump cavity needs to be done
Core plug holes need deburing
CHECK THAT THE DISTRIBUTOR GEAR DOES NOT CONTACT THE BLOCK BY THE CAM.
