I own an inspection company and that is all we do Remote Visual Inspection. Our videoscopes start at $60,000 and go up from there but the results are awesome. I can go through your carb past your open intake valve and view anything in the cylinder and provide 3D measurements. The cheaper ones do not provide the articulation or the image quality to do detailed cylinder inspections. If you are looking for foreign debris of some size they may work fine.

Got a cheap one that flex's. Better than nothing, but it is pretty fuzzy no matter how you adjust the focus.
For the same price, got a rigid non flex probe. It is like being in the combustion chamber and walking around. Just limited to ports with easy access. Even a cheap one can be handier than hole in a nightgown on your honeymoon.

I don't think you can find a better one in the under $1000 price range let alone for under $500...most Snap On dealers I know will let you try it (carefully of course) before you buy it....that's a can't lose situation. Another possibility is a good used 5500 series for under $200.
