Looks like the car has a Four speed hump cover and boot flange. I would think that it is a automatic trans behind that crime scene though. A flywheel/clutch explosion would be more severe.

Bob, I just learned that car is only about 10 miles from me !
I was looking for a D date code trans for a '63 Max Wedge restoration ,when a friend told me about it.
There are more real Max Wedge cars per square mile around here than most people can believe, I know of at least 7 in a 10 mile radius from me!

Tom you are right, there are a few up there. Oh yea trans let go in burn out box at Island and sounded like a gernade went off under my feet !
Not a 4 speed, car came with 3 speed on floor, later changed to an auto.

Nice find there...I take it that this was your old car at one time...also do you know if the current owner is restoring it now.

I drove for Stein in 1973, had both cars. The owner wanted to talk to Jerry so I put him in touch with him, have not talked to either yet. Alum car, I would restore it, worth a bunch more than he paid back in the 80s

Is It a ORIG Alum car or was it added latter?

Its an early 63 steel car Max Wedge with Alum added when it came availible.
