Some more pics courtesy of Kim Schlegelmilch. Kim's Dad raced a 57 chevy at Cornhusker.

Nice cars...nice times! Looks like the place might have closed...late '70's?...based on the equipment on the cars....Why did it close...noise?

I'm not sure which 57 your talking about at Rolling Thunder but this car is out there a lot. It hung around Glenwood Iowa for several years and several owners back in the late 80's early 90's.I bought it in the fall of 92 and replaced the one piece glass front,(it was delaminating and busted up bad) with parts from a four door. Some trim pieces and the dash were salvaged,a 427 ,turbo 400 was installed and dana 60 and tubbed for 14x32. I raced it two years and sold it to Jeff Haggland who still races it today. I painted it and added the "JOE COOl" snoopy lettering . Jeff has improved the car and it definately runs better then when I had it.
I remember the paint was cracked real bad ,I assume it was Laquer and when we stripped it it was thick. It even had the original red and white under it. Thanks for posting it!

The 57 that comes down to MAM once in a blue moon is Dan Bruckner's old race car. I cannot recall the current owner's name, but I know he has had the car for over 20 years. I dont know if it still has a Ford engine in it.

I think Mike Ceroneowns it now. He’s had it for years. It’s a street car now and has a Chevy in it.

After checking all the photos it does appear that this was taken at Cornhusker raceway, the buildings in the backgorund match other photos on this site.

That is Cornhusker, 144th Street in the background. Saw my first race there in 1970, was there for the final race, the WWCS race in Sept 73

found the photo on a facebook site, think it was called powerglide magazine. I also saw a photo of a blue and white opel on there, got to try and refind it as it also raced at cornhusker.
