In comments of a Bob Rice pic (of the car as Dick Henry built it) on Facebook, Ron Morehead confirmed to me that this is the same car. I'm pretty sure it was the first GT Camaro built, but not sure if it's the first GT car period ....

[QUOTE=thomas sheehan;300691]How about this one?
I was told (correct me if you know something different) that this was the first SS/GT car to hit the track back in the 80's..... Dick Henry (Ed Quay built). (Ron Morehead) I would say yes. Did anybody notice the headers coming out at the FRONT bumper ? He ran this car at Kinston Dragstrip when it was originally built...

[QUOTE=Todd Boyer;300871]Al Brister is a member here, and he helped Dick Henry a lot with this car back when it was first built. If he happenes to stumble across this thread he can probably elaborate on the headers and other such stuff. I remember seeing Dick run the car at Kinston and Jacksonville quite a bit in the mid to late 1980s.

[QUOTE=Todd Boyer;300871]If that is the same issue of SS&DI that I have, they featured what were believed to be the first 2 SS GT cars to be used in competition, the Dick Henry Camaro, and Len Schneiders Thunderbird. Schneiders TBird was first built with a 428 Cobra Jet, but was switched to a 351 Cleveland soon after. As far as I know, Len still has the car, but has not raced it much in recent years.
