One other odd vehicle I raced against back in the mid t late 80`s was a little 50cc crotch rocket. I was dialed in the mid 18`s and had to chase by 9 seconds. Luckily he missed a shift and I passed him at the 1000'. My "friends" were all pulling for the bike.

Several years ago, there was an ex Sand Drag racer who converted his tube chassis, aluminum body Jeep to dragstrip duty. It had a supercharged Pontiac "Slant 4" (basically one side of a 389 V8, used in the early Tempest cars),the engine was mounted behind the driver. I believe it burned alcohol, and ran in the high 8 second range, and had a very unique sound to it. It must have been a handfull before, running those scooped paddle tires in the sand.

Come on Hawk, I don't know about those friends, but I'm a friend of yours, and I'd have been rootin' for you man...it would've been cool to see you chasing after that bike too (something we seldom get to do huh?). The only way I'd like that race more, is if I were you chasing him!!!
