I heard that a lot of businesses in that town might have been damaged when all of those tornado's went thought there back in the spring time, does anyone here know for sure if Robert Nance home or business were affected?

Yes, thats the paint I had put on in 84 when I bought it from Robert. I took the Mr Plymouth door skin to Robert after I changed the door. It was in rough shape. Robert hung it at the station. Don't know where it ended up. Jerry Bryant was driving for Robert when I bought the car. Jerry won the last race he drove for Robert. I moved to Atl from Chatt in 86. When I wanted to get rid of the car I called Jerry and he bought it. Think that was 86 too.
Robert was a sad man when I drove off with the car. I told him he would build another but he said no. He didn't. I bought most everything out of the shop. Even the tig welder and drill press. When I had it it was still SS legal. Last class race I ran with it was the 85 Atl points meet. 2 SSJA cars there and who do I get first round, think it was Joey Warren heads up. I was toast.

I have had Mike Robbins as a customer for quite a few years. He has used my engines in some heads up programs. I was unaware of a tornado hitting Ringgold Ga. until I read this thread. Mike is the current owner of the dealership Mr. Nance owned.
I E-mailed him and got this response:

Adger, here are pics of the damage it was an ef4

My dad bought the dealership from two partners Raymond Beasley and
Robert Nance. As a kid I helped Robert work on a ss/aa dart named "Car
Wars" he made me do all the hard work like lay under the dash and run
wires. he was all hemi or small block. He thought the big blocks were
crap...
Mike

The pictures show a pretty well torn up dealership and the area around it. Looks like the parts dept and service dept were hit the hardest. One of the pictures has a 5 gal bucket, looks like paint or dry wall, and there are some long pieces of wood blown completely through the bucket. UGH!!

I can't post pictures if some one wants to I will e-mail them and let them post.
Any of the "Car Wars" pictures floating around out there? Please post'em.

I was unaware Robert campaigned a SS/AA Dart. Was this an original Hurst car???? And if so, I would particually be VERY INTERESTED in seeing some pix & getting some info on it as I am currently looking for the history on mine previous to early 80's.
If you haven't seen it yet I made a post here a couple years back on this forum "Original Hemi Dart Information". Any & all info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

To make the doors rough, were they possibly acid dipped?

I just got another e-mail from Mike Robbins. I thought it was interesting.

I cant post yet but if I remember correctly Robert was big
into acid dipping, and I am almost sure the fenders and the doors were
dipped on that duster. the fenders would bend super easy when working on
it...
