And what's worst about this (as somebody else mentioned), is with us you're just adding insult to injury. Shame on me for not running a diaper when I blew my motor up at Atco a couple of years ago, but adding the $250 fine to the catastrophic damage that just occurred to my motor would have been like kicking me in the balls when I got out of the car. Though to be perfectly honest, I probably could have accepted the $250 fine BECAUSE I didn't have a diaper on the car at the time. If I'm adhering to all of your rules and put oil on the track though, I don't feel I should be fined for such an infraction. Plus, what constitutes a fine? This has NEVER been defined. I've heard MULTIPLE horror stories about guys being fined because they deposited fluid on the track that was easily cleaned up with a mop. Where does it stop? When will they start fining up for dragging water from the burnout box up to the starting line? NHRA can kiss my *****.

to all racers especially Jason----an oildown is ONLY oil deposited on the track surface starting from behind the burnout box all the way thru the turn off area IF it requires any type of mechanical equiptment(tractor sweeper etc,) AND it causes a delay in the racing activities----water and other fluids etc are considered an oildown ----any fluids cleaned up with a mop or a rag ARE NOT an oil down!!!!! It's only engine oil/gear lube, trans fluid AND IT/ that requires any type of mechanical equipment to clean it up!!!!!

Allow me to share how this policy was explained to me.......NHRA, rather than implementing a diaper rule on all the classes they just reinstated the Oildown Policy. In which most racers would then install a diaper rather than hand NHRA money via a imposed fine.
Source .......very reliable.................. Rick Bailey

Then it has changed from years past because my buddy paid for a water leak between the water box and the starting line that was mopped up before I ran right behind him after they shut him off. Fixing it was easy just tighten up a Aeroquip fitting. I saw it happen right in front of me at Las Vegas. Rick Cates |

Also, if it is for engine oil only, and I have a standard wet-sump oil system with an oil-retention device, yet still deposit fluid on the track, am I excused from any penalties? If this was done supposedly as an alternative to mandating oil-retention devices, then I should be immune from any fines / penalties if I DO run an oil-retention device. Again, I'm a believer in diapers from a safety standpoint, but why are oil-retention devices REQUIRED in S/G & S/C, but these same competitors (most of which use standard wet sump oiling systems) can also be fined for oiling the track with engine oil? NHRA can still kiss my *****.

According to NHRA a few drops of oil like 2-3 NOT A QUART if it can be wiped/mopped up is not an infraction--- however if it involves a major cleanup where they hafta literally stop the racing for quite a while get out the oil dri and sweep get the tractors drag the tires up and down the track get your wallet out et its gonna be a fine--minor drops are OK-that is from NHRA
