M68,
Did any of those 1970 Plymouth Sport Fury GT 440-6 barrel cars ever come through with a 4-speed?
I think 'Hurst' put in a floor shifter between the buckets on the automatic.

On the Belvedere stuff. Don't know if you can remember when people
would call the the family style Belvedere a "4-door Road Runner".

440RB,
The 69' Plymouth Fury 440/375HP 'Police Pursuit Vehicle' was the fastest in top speed at 147 mph, with 2.94 gears.
Oldsmobile built a Delta 88 2-door in 1970 with a 455/390HP engine, and 3.08 gears, called the 'Police Apprehender'. Not sure if it topped the
147 MPH apex.
Chrysler played around with some Holley carbs on the 'Police Interceptors', but the larger CFM carbs (though better on the top-end), were not good while idling and at low speeds for the automatic. Thats
where the higher stall converter came in, about 350-450 higher rpm
over stock. They found that the Holley 570 cfm worked best, for overall
performance.

Did anyone mention the 57 chevy Black Widow? 6 lug wheels, duel shocks, 283 injected, no back seat, heater radio delete, factory roll bar. 10 built.

Don't know how I found this one.
1966 Mercury Monterey Breezeway.
410 'FE' engine with 330HP.
Everyone must remember that electric roll-down rear window.
The 410 Mercury engine was only available for 2 years.

Anybody who ever rode in a Monterey with that window down remembers how anything not welded to the seats flew right out that window, too!

Paul do you remember anything about the 1972 Fury I "Police Interceptor" with the oddball 383 THREE-barrel Holley? I had a chance to buy one in '76 and, for the life of me, I couldn't see any advantage.

[QUOTE=Paul Ceasrine;179564]Wagon Odd-Ball,
1966 Plymouth Belvedere II Station Wagon w/Hemi.
Just how many of those things were made??

As far as I can find out only two and they were NOT assembly line produced. They were what they call a "Paper Car" today. I believe Gary Ostrich had a hand in putting one or both of them together for Chrysler. There was one stick and one automatic combo built in 1966. I dont know if one was the Lee Smith M/P and Gas classed car or if he built his own as a 67 model? The combo ended up in the NHRA class guide because Chrysler said they made a bunch...lol. Not only that but the tail gate on the automatic car weighed about 600 lbs (full of lead) to make SS/FA. I heard the stick version exploded a clutch and flywheel and almost cut the car in half. The driver only recieved minor injuries. The auto version became the car called the "Lead Zephlin" I believe. Anyone else know anything other than what I have found out?

I was reading a magazine tonight and there was a 1957 Chevy 4 door sedan in it. Factory original 245 hp 283 dual quad engine. Dealer order mistake in North Dakota now in Wisconson. 65,000 mile survivor.

About 10 years ago I bought a 494ci Hemi from a 4wd pickup puller. It had been built by Gary Ostrich. I stopped and visited him at his shop and the lead filled tailgate was mentioned in the convesation.

In that same vain, how many real Max Wedge station wagons were actually made from the factory?

Brett,
Thank God they don't make the 65' Monterey's anymore. If they did, can you just imagine how many McDonald's wrappers you would see along the road?
Of course, a 65' with a 427/410HP side-oiler would be fun. If you had that car, you would have to keep that rear window closed, or you could lose your wife and kids through the vacuum. That actually might be a
'Good Thing'.
