Only 784 1971 Hornet SC/360's built. 306 with 4 speed and this is only one I ever saw with bench seat.

When my brother came home after his second Tour in 69 from Vietnam he bought from a fellow pilot a Pontiac Safari station wagon to get back home from Ft Hood, the station wagon was used to haul parts for many years from the service depot, it was a 421 cubic inch,dual exhaust with four speed and bucket seats, no radio. He used this as his tow vehicle for ten years hauling his Jr Stocker.

I've only ever seen two of 'em in person. Last I checked, I think it could be squeezed into P/SA. The second one I saw was rotting in a field about ten miles from Central Michigan Dragway for sale for $1500. I almost had Denysenko tow it for me but I bailed on the deal and refurbished a house, instead. I'm an idiot.

By the way, (for everybody but Paul), we're talking about the second generation Marlin, not the '65-'66. The '67 is a completely different car; production numbers were less than 2500.

1967 Marlin response..Our neighbor bought one new from a dealer
Geis Buick-Rambler, Shrub Oak, New York. The car was famous for the "3+3" moniker. I'm pretty sure they raced the car in L/SA in 1970??
Honest truth,,they put a set of 'cheapie headers' on the car...and it went slower!!..You said thats your favorite car,,won't challenge 'the beauty is in the eye of the beholder",,,but the only way I could look at that car is through 'welders glasses',,,'Sorry 'bout that',,,,,,,,,"Go Rambler"

It had the round stick Hurst with the single exhaust with the square resonator, dog dish hubcaps and was painted Maroon.

I know all about the rectangular-shaped resonator. My mother had a
67' Barracuda fastback, with the 273 Commando..Unfortunately, no Hurst,,just the pathetic 'Inland' unit...My father took off the exhaust and put on headers, put the resonator in the shop storage shelf. Also, got another one new, as a gift from the Parts Manager at Meadowland
Chrysler-Plymouth , Carmel New York. We had (2) pristine chrome-tipped resonators, and threw them both out,,,AHHHH!!!,,What are they worth now,,,, and the chrome air-cleaner unit too????
By the way,, doesn't the Barracuda eat the Marlin,,,sorry Bret. My Cuda went fishing...

Paul, I never said the Marlin (of any year) wasn't absolutely the most hideous creation in the history of automotive engineering. I just said it was my dream car! LMAO!

Pascoe, my only foray into the world of Oldsmoblight was with a '82 Olds Delta 88 Royale, (NOT a 98), with 301 Pontiac power, (affectionately referred to as the "Oldsmiac"). It fit nicely into AHRA's Q/SA and won one of the last legal eliminator races at St. Louis International Raceway in 1983 and was promptly sold, never to be seen again.

Danny, I remember that incident well; it was a white Dodge Dynasty returned with no right front tire and nothing but first gear.

EDIT: Denysenko appropriately corrected my aging memory on the c.i. on the Poncho; once again, I can only state, "I can't remember the last time I forgot something"!

You guys may not classify them as muscle, but for what they were-they weren't half bad. 1975 2 + 2 Chevy Monza 262 v8 4 speed. Same combo as now being run as a pass national record holder from Canada. I had a 1975 4 speed model that wasn't all that fast e.t. wise, but with the 2.....rear end felt like it could have run nascar top end. Also had a 1977 2 + 2 305 v8 auto/ a/c that my wife drove and they also were a good street light warrior. The all time sleeper factory V8 Monza was to Calif 1975 model. The 262 would not pass Calif smog test, so they used a factory 350 into Calif that would. Never saw one in the Mid west as I would think that would have been rather limited.
