If doing nothing does no harm. And doing something does harm. I vote to do nothing.

Ah Yes Do no Harm..... Sorry Art I am laughing.... Harm is in the eye of the beholder here.
Some like Dial in, Some look towards the better future of S and SS and some want to just be "able" to qualify #1 at will. Some see doing nothing DOING HARM.
At this time I feel there is a major tilt of benefits to Bracket style racing. That is a long way from giving credit to the "olde Guys" favorite of Heads up Class racing out the back door.
Maybe giving back the points for Records, the OLDE guys, could start getting pleasure out of going as fast as possible to win and it would help the AHFS too.
My original idea was make Class Wins extra points also with AHFS active there too.
Suddenly Most classes would shuffle the Fast bogus stuff by guys needing the points to try for the Championship to keep up with the "dial in guys" so eveyone is more active and agressive with a chance to win.
Obviously these are just thoughts looking for improvements Many could support as positive for the future and the fun.

i could care less either way, it wont change anyway. i will quit in a few years and i am sure the hras will keep going. i just cant get interested in bracket, i am not good at it either. i am also not a hitter. i am not an embarrasment, but no hitter. i could get interested if any hra would do something affordable to bring back performance racing. but i know it will never happen. i thought ahra had a good chance to bring something new to the table with all the classes they have i thought 1 would be no-break-out, wrong!!!!!

Dick you do know that points meets and national opens count towards the ahfs now right?
Your point about records is a bit muddled. Do you want the records once set, to be held forever? What do you to do when they go back to a minimum?
You seem to just want change, any change just change. That did not seem to work in November. Why do you want to screw up something when you don't race?
Leave it the way it is. It isn't perfect but we can deal with it. Everybody that is racing now has accepted it. Or they would not be racing. Go start another association and ban me from running it if you like. I'll stay with what I have.

Art,,,, I accept your points. No I am no longer racing. Very important point. I merely asked the question as there are many who discuss Bye runs for class, Hp weaknesses on factoring and I had been thinking how to get the AHFS to act more quickly and even out the ratings more rapidly. The other piece of the discussion was getting more encouragement for the OLDE guy type racer who also competes still at points meets, and runs class. He may not have the best weather station or FI car to be as consistent but works hard and values the "fastest in class" idea. Maybe giving this piece of S and SS racing credit by awarding points would reward the two Major groups of S and SS racers.
No I do not wish to bar anyone with opposite thoughts, or create change where I do not compete, just thinking...positive discussion points...No I do not want to Screw up things when I do not currently race.
.Thanks

Dick, I honestly don't know what it is you're trying to accomplish anymore! I have no problem with giving points for record setting BUT the AHFS or something has to be in effect to reel in out of control combos. Most of the guys out there setting records don't care about points anyway.
I have no problem whatsoever with giving classwinners points or cutting the number of classes BUT unless ALL of the classwinners are torn down you're creating more problems then you're trying to solve.
Cutting the number of classes to 16 is fine BUT again without tearing down ALL classwinners you are creating more problems than you're fixing. OBTW, IF NHRA tears them all down (and that's not going to happen) what do you do with the guys that get tossed? The punishment would have to be severe in that situation. Permanently surrender parts and a year off? It would have to be at least that.
Spec. motors? Who is creating the specs? That won't work! Not to mention it makes EVERYONES combo obsolete over night. The only reasonable Spec. deal would be to come up with a "Claimer" value for heads, intakes, carbs etc.
Or just leave it all alone!

I think that pole is tilted to serve an agenda..To get rid of slower classes and cars.AND
to try and penalize the dreaded "Pro Sportsman" types. After all not many of them come to set records and win class.
