Guys....the carb is a 4779 Holley. TV cable, as stated, is a Lokar. Brackets are homegrown. Sounds like we're on to something here... "I'm a roast...baste me." - Dennis Miller, in the film, Joe Dirt.

The TV cable geometry is critical. The lever needs to pull the cable 1.375 " , from 0 to WOT . That is the first step in setting up a new transmission. You should be able to set the cable by resetting the adjuster, then opening the carburator to WOT, and getting at least 1 click out of the adjuster. The lower mph shift points are controlled by the Valve body in conjunction with the large governor weights. The lighter the weight the more delayed the upshift point. Small steps are better.
