Default Mounting Kirkey Seats to a Cross Bar

I'm converting my poly seats to Kirkey aluminum ones - the Pro Street version - and have a question on mounting the back brace that came with the kit. It's basically a formed sheet of T-6 aluminum that bolts to the back of the seat and lays over the cross bar with no included means of attaching the two. The easiest mount I can think of would be to drill through it and use a pair of exhaust clamps to bolt it to the cage cross bar. I also have a spare weight box clamp that is drilled for a 1/2 inch bolt. I could order another and use the two of them to secure it to the brace.

Are clamps legal as a means of attachment to the cross bar or is welding required. I can't find it specified in the 2016 book. Just "securely attached"

This kind of clamp: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pte-h7173/overview/

Thanks in advance.
