You want the traffic in the rt lane to inch by you, not blow by...Most of the time it will keep an open path in front of you and you are not dealing with the guys getting off to the right. If some guy is in a real hurry he can blow by in the left lane.

On Long Island and downstate New York , no tractor trailers or any vehicle towing a trailer are allowed in the left lane-----that leaves 2 lanes for trailers on a 3 lane Expressway so I would deeply advise if you are going to run under the limit STAY TO THE RIGHT FOR SAFETY.
