They qualified in SS/JA at 10.16, which is 1.10 under the altitude-adjusted index for an 11.00 lb class, and therefore 2.10 under the equivalent Stock index.
Is this the 305 HP engine that was running in F/SA until about a month ago? (now factored to 360 for automatics in Stock, but not stick, nor SS) Is the car entered in SS, unmodified from Stock Elim trim? Could they have run 10.1's in F-G/SA before the recent factoring? If so, they have really shown their hand, which is commendable. I suspect nobody has really shown their hand with the 275 HP version. Perhaps like the LS-1 Chevy, these engines won't benefit as much from the extra modifications allowed in SS as a traditional stocker will. But it seems to me that at least the stick version should be factored about the same as automatic, even if no one has run one yet. I have to believe that the Horsepower committiee has observed these same things, but I though it wouldn't hurt to post, just in case the SS entry flew under their radar.
