Default question about ladder bar/shock adjustments

I am running a bracket car that has ladder bar/coil overs it runs 6.80's in the 1/8th. The car works great when the track is good, but if the track goes away a little the car loses a BUNCH in 60ft.
I have been told several different things. My question is when the track is bad or starts to go away do i want to hit the tires harder or softer. I run QA1 single adjustable shocks in the rear, the last I was told was to soften the shocks up when the track is bad.

Also my bars are pointed down slightly, since the car is a footbrake car with a 54.4%/45.6% weight front to back could it not be hitting the tires hard enough. Would moving the bars up 1 hole be a move in the right direction.
