When setting the linkage use high gear on the setup then check park before placing the linkage back on. Put the trans lever in park then put the shifter in park and see if the two line up and go together easily. If not you may be using the wrong hole in the shifter linkage on the trans. Most of the shift levers on the trans have several holes so make sure the setup is in the correct hole for the shifter you use. This is the most common problem.
If the issue is still the same and will hot hold park I think the parking paw spring loaded engage lever inside the trans is not placed correctly. This can easily be fixed by pulling the pan only and working on it in the car. Try and see. If the trans works other than park the linkage inside is probably the issue if the shifter linkage is correct. Remember to use high gear to check the setup then to Park. Good Luck and if you still have the issue I can walk you through the fix on the internals on the phone when you are under the car looking at it if needed. |
