Rear end strength question:

I 've been told that 8.5 is practically as strong as 12 blt. with exception of pro gears not available for 8.5 10 blt. and hear 8.8 is there with them strenghth wise other than axle tubes most of street style mustang race cars have modified 8.8's whether they change tubes or not I don't know.
