How are your belts attached?

Need a clarification on the shoulder portion of belt attachment. In the book, the text says to see illustration as to how to attach. In my opinion the picture clearly shows a wrap around attachment. I know that some guys wrap and some attach to a tab. I have also seen a bolt through the bar.

Recently, a tech official told a friend of mine that wrap around is NOT correct.

Please let me know your experiences, opinions, etc.
