Default Re: Accel question

I can't comment on that part in particular. What I CAN say is that while I have been using Accel stuff for decades, I have been VERY disappointed in the quality of their stuff recently. I the last 90 days or so, the failure rate of Accel parts has been 100%. Modules and coils have been either not performing well, or not working at all. The new coil and module on my Blazer failed within 60 days, and swapping on some old leftover GM junk fired it right up and it runs fine. Had an Accel coil and module in a distributor in an engine on the dyno, and it would not even light a timing light. Wiring it all through an MSD made that work. Checked the timing lights on a stock vehicle outside, they worked fine. Just two examples. And I have been an Accel fan and customer for about 30 years, I put their stuff on my first vehicles.

Default Re: Accel question

Sometime in the last few years, Accel went to Chinese-made modules. My old made in USA Accel module eventually failed, so I got a replacement and noticed it was made in China. Needless to say, that one went right back to the store. I did just what you did - I put in the old GM one I saved, and it works just fine for my truck. The only US-made modules I have been able to find are D.U.I.

As far as the Cal Map software, it seems like their EFI stuff is generally well-regarded. I've never heard anything bad about it.

Thumbs up Re: Accel question

Mike -- Our team has been using that system for years with great results - Accel stuff has been almost trouble free - wish I had it on our GTO -- Holley system has been nothing but trouble..............
