Default Great Sportsmanship at LVD!

Just wanted to thank Mike Sawyer for the re-run at Lebanaon Valley. Mike and I squared off in rd 4 of SG (for the bye to the final). First, one of his pre-stage bulbs was burned out or died from vibrations . . . no big deal . . . then my top amber failed to fire (that's the one I try to stare at!) Anyway, Mike gets the tree and the win lite and I am seriously upset. At the end of the track I am screaming at the officials that my top bulb was out and the only answers I get is "they know" and I should go see Dave in the tower??? By the time I got back to the pits Mike Sawyer was waiting and offering to go to the tower with me to get a re-run. Later I found out that he had a seriously wounded ring gear with only a very few starts left on it. NHRA then came by and said we would re-run. Long story made short . . . He beat me again . . . at the tree and at the stripe . . . and as much as I wanted to win, I really think he deserved the win. He nursed the wounded ring gear thru semis and final and then we towed it back to the trailer. Anyway, thanks to Mike (and Ray & Denise) for the second chance.

Al,
There is no surprise with the sportsmanship shown by most of the D-1 Competitors. A real Champion wants to beat the opponent on a level playing field, not see him get hosed by a track electronics malfunction. The Sawyer Family has been on the "Real Champion List" for a long time.

Johnny
We both know this was not your first !!!!

Al - You would've done the exact same thing. I still say I should get an extra 10 points for having to beat the Division Champ, fresh off a National Event win, twice in a row. Just getting lucky enough to turn the win light on once against you is hard enough!

Bill and Charlie, Thanks for the kind words.

Thanks to Al and Jason Kenny, Shawn and Jackie Fricke, Kyle Cultrera and everyone else who helped us and offered help those last couple of rounds when getting the car started with a fairly good portion of teeth missing from the flexplate wasn't a given.

And Johnny... Seek help. The phone calls at night are getting a little creepy.

Actually, I emptied out the box (all .oo5) for the re-run and was about 12 or 15 slower off the line . . . Apparently, I do better if the bulb is burned out!!!

THIS JUST IN:

There was an unconfirmed report of a small white and black dog with an amber LED bulb in his mouth leaving the area just prior to the run. Officials will not confirm or deny this sighting, nor has any incriminating video surfaced.

If Johnny was on the case, he would get to the bottom of this.
